Welcome to MGT 550!

I'm Dr. Wade Larson and I'm pleased to be with you throughout this course. This will serve as our online platform to access documents and materials for our course.

I laid out the sessions below along with links to materials, assignments, etc.

We'll take this approach and give us some structure for the materials, assignments, etc. I look forward to working with all of you. If you have any questions, please reach out to me directly. I recommend using my personal email (wade@wadelarson.com) or through the school email (wade.larson@wsu.edu).

I provided a mini-index so you can jump ahead to the different sessions. It's not fancy, but this should serve our purposes. Please let me know if you need anything.

TEAM ASSIGNMENT

You will be working with your team to complete a leadership development plan for Saudi Aramco. Before you can develop your plan, you must identify, measure, and assess the current situation of the company.

Review the Saudi Aramco case study. Conduct initial analysis of the company and provide a written overview outlining the results of your analysis. Evaluate the role of leadership in the company and answer the following questions in your analysis.

  • How does leadership impact the development of the company’s future shift in its priorities?

  • How can the company improve its leadership effectiveness to optimize the company’s performance under the new focus?

  • Evaluate the company’s mission, values, and other factors fundamental to the company’s success. Are there changes that you recommend that are necessary for S.A. to achieve Net Zero by the set dates?

  • Consider the current culture in the company. What changes will be needed to shift the culture to match the new priorities?

  • Develop what you believe should be the top priorities or strategies for the company over the next 3-5 years to set the correct course to achieve Net Zero by the established timeline.

As a team, prepare a PowerPoint presentation that outlines your response.

  • Be sure to provide sufficient details either within your slides or the speakers’ notes to ensure understanding by the reader.

  • Be prepared to have one or more member(s) of your team ready to walk the rest of the class through your presentation during Session 2.
